Manikandan the childhood name of Swamy Ayyappan when he was growing up as the beloved adopted son of the King of Pandalam, lands up at Muhamma Cheerappanchira. The hermitage (kudil) wherein Swamy Ayyappan lived during his Aayudhaabhyaasam ( martial art education ) is continuing to be preserved in its original form by the on going inheritors / Governors  of it. The Kalari Guru of Swamy Ayyappan, due to old age when unable to visit Sabarimala, the Lord made arrangements building up a temple near to the hermitage for Kalari Guru.

The exact site of the Hermitage is to the east of Muhamma junction, adjoining Muppiri Canal, and westward to River Vembanad.
